One of the many things I took away from the National Professional Photographers convention in Quebec last spring was to create a promotional video. I am not really comfortable on the other side of the lens but I figured my clients do it for me so I contacted Darin Foulkes, Foulkes Productions and we put it together. He did a great job! Thanks to the Ives family and Katie and Craig for allowing us to film during our sessions.
Finally a moment to blog....
On Gold Cup and Saucer day here in Charlottetown I had the utmost pleasure to share and photograph Marakesh and Mark's incredible wedding. Kilts, pints of Keiths, sunshine, friends, family.....what could be better??
You'll notice we took a little break on Victoria Row for a pint (well not me!). I kindly asked the wedding party if they would watch my camera bag, in particular Mr Rooster who is NOT replaceable!! I can't leave him alone for a moment!

Obviously I was gone too long.....

Ok seriously, here's a sneak peek!! Can you tell we enjoyed the day?
A week ago I got to do some fun stuff with a great client of mine. She's a member of our curling team here on PEI and was asked to pose for a fundraising calendar. Here's what we came up with! Doesn't she just have the BEST smile?

Until next time, LAV
PEI in the summertime sure seems to be a great place for families to gather. Whether it is for a wedding, anniversary, family reunion or a yearly tradition. Here we have just the grandchildren from a family who all travel up here from Boston. I thought this was pretty neat!

This young family travels yearly from North Bay. I first met them 3 years ago and I am so thrilled that they have made portraits with Light & Vision a part of their tradition. It is amazing just how much little Rowan has come out of his shell in a year. So many questions and so curious and full of life! We ended the session with fullfilling a promise that he could open the door to my car and sit behind the wheel!! I look forward to seeing them again next year and seeing if little sis Vivian is any more chatty :-)

ok so I am a little delayed in getting this one up. This week has been full of large family reunion, anniversary type sessions so I am just getting to this fab wedding now!
Lindsay and Neil, wow what a couple. Lindsay has such spunk and energy it really just radiates and makes everyone smile!! Neil as well as his family were a total joy including all 10 very young neices and nephews!
The day went off without a hitch....welll except perhaps that the 'Rock Star' bus firstly had no air conditioning as it was for poor Belinda and Tony's wedding (see blog One Hot Wedding!). But then it actuallly broke down and wouldn't start at the church after the ceremony!! I had the Miata that day so called my trusty husband to come out with the Jeep and help move at least the bride and groom to a couple of locations while the replacement bus was run out.
So I dash home from the beach, download my images from the morning, edit, burn, and charge all batteries to prepare for Craig and Kati's big day. Lately I have been getting a lot more requests to photograph the guys getting ready as well as the girls which is always a treat. Craig's guys were beyond fun and great sports! Nothing like walking into a hotel room full of guys half dressed trying to figure out what goes where and how!!
Kati was just so sweet and calm under much pressure at the hotel where she got ready. No idea how many bodies were in that room including kids, make up artist, hair dresser, me, the Mom, Dad, bride, attendants all getting dressed and ready in a small space!! Although there was a small issue that took up needed time with the dress it all worked out and the day couldn't have been better!! Congrats guys and thanks for the laughs!!
Here's a peek! Please do not copy or print my images, feel free to share the link to this blog though!! Comments and feedback welcome and appreciated!!
Stay tuned for part three, LAV
Wow what a crazy busy last couple of days!
It started out with a very small wedding scheduled for Thursday evening on the beach. Well Thursday it POURED buckets of rain. I had called to see if she could do it Wednesday evening instead (Wedding party consisted of 3 people including the bride and groom). I was even a witness! Wednesday wasn't in the cards so we decided to stick with Thursday.
While shooting a newborn session Thursday afternoon, I hear my cell phone and office phone ringing like crazy so I figure it must be important (normally I would never leave while in a session to take a call but the baby needed to be nursed so I did!)! The bride, groom, and officiant were able to do it Friday morning....well Friday I had a commercial shoot already booked plus a wedding that started around noon. So I gave up the commercial job to be able to give them the wedding memories they had dreamed of!!
Here are a few highlights. Please do not print or copy but feel free to comment or share the link to this blog post.
Hot groom, hot bride, hot wedding party and well a very HOT DAY!! I loved the energy of this wedding despite the desperate heat!! Most photos were taken at the Covehead Beach which as you can imagine in the middle of the afternoon on a hot Saturday in the summer was pretty busy!! I tried my best to eliminate the people!!
On a side note, yesterday I was photographing on the beach when my main camera's (D700) shutter stuck shut!! Of course I had another camera in my bag and was easily able to finish the shoot but I really need my D700 for weddings!! Thank goodness for technology as I called my hubby who then callled all over the Maritimes and got one on a bus that I picked up the morning of the wedding!! Turns out my original D700 must have just needed the contacts clean as it worked just fine all through the wedding. So I had 2 D700's and two Fuji S5's for back ups....you can't be too paranoid and prepared when responsible for peoples wedding memories!
I first met B when she was just 3 years old. Since then I have done many sessions including her and now she has grown into quite the sweet 11 year old little lady!! Her mom had a day of surprises for her. One of which was a mommy and me photo shoot. She wanted something different so I came up with the girls shopping day idea (having a 12 year old girl myself that loves t shop with me!!). I think she had fun with it!! Here's a few faves... Please do not copy or print, thank you!!
