What a cool way to celebrate (and remember) your 50th birthday!
Originally Gena's plan was to come with her two sisters for a portrait session on her big day but then unfortunately one of them couldn't make it. She felt a bit awkward and unsure about coming in all by herself for portraits for no particular reason other than to have some photos of herself to mark her 50th birthday. I assured her it would be fun so in she came!! She was admittedly nervous at first but then with the music playing and flashes going we both ended up having a great time and now she has some really great portraits!
We are all worth being photographed for no particular reason or purpose. I would really love to see more people mark their milestone birthdays other than the traditional age 1, 2, 3, 16 etc with a fun photo shoot!
Here are the ones she chose. I think this first one is my favourite! The hat wasn't originally in the plans but I noticed it when she came in from the cold so we played!

Can you believe lovely Kali is expecting her 6th baby in a few weeks? Doesn't she look just radiant and amazing? I am privileged to be her chosen photographer to capture this special time in her life. This was our fourth maternity session together. I always enjoy photographing her and her bump but this time she came along with her daughter and mother so we took some lovely 3 generation photos. I got such a kick out of her daughter. So many questions, what a personality she has. She is going to be an excellent big sister for sure!!
I know that they will cherish these images in years to come. Kali has a huge black and white portrait of just her pregnant belly hanging in her office from when she was pregnant with her daughter 4 years ago. She has 4 boys, 1 girl, and who knows? It was such a pleasure and I very much look forward to photographing their 'complete' family next year!
Wishing Kali and her growing family a wonderful holiday....although baby #6 is due Boxing Day so it could be interesting!

This year I gave my 13 year old daughter the opportunity to make a little extra cash by helping me out. She figured it was better than babysitting! Other than assisting me at weddings and portrait location sessions she does framing and assembles albums and checks orders. I really enjoyed having an assistant, especially one as fun and awesome as my daughter! She seemed to enjoy it too. It was also great to have her manage the music as we went from place to place....most of the time lol!
Throughout the weddings she would non chalantly 'pop' into the scene so I thought it would be fun to do a blog of my summer assistant moments! Note the variety of hair styles and colour!

Well this one in particular! I was asked to put on a Wedding Workshop for the second year Holland College Photography and Digital Imaging students. So I asked my friend Wendy to model for us, packed up my gear as I would for any wedding and off I went. We couldn't find a groom so a first year student graciously stepped in...thanks Matthew!!
I tried to keep it to the basics but make it fun. Hope they learned something!

Actually a few boys at this event had fun too!! Yesterday was the second time that The Confederation Court Mall presented a fantastic fashion event hosted by the fabulous Lynn Spence from Toronto's City TV, "Shop your Shape with Lynn Spence". This lady is like a style encyclopedia...or I guess these days wikipedia!! Incredible flare with style, not to mention her excellent humour and stage presence. I was so fortunate to photograph this once again as well as attend and photograph the reception following. Here are some highlights from the very many images taken! Smile Dresses was there with some little models. This is a really wonderful charitable organization. For more information check out their Facebook page. Katherine Davis, the marketing manager for the mall really outdid herself putting this one together along with Kim Rashed and Savannah Belsher MacLean. I just wish I had time to write down some of the fashion guidlines. Luckily I have PHOTOS!! I know for sure I want to go shoe shopping very soon!! This past weekend I was fortunate to attend and photograph some really amazing events geared mainly toward women! Friday evening was our local Chamber of Commerce Ultimate Girls Night Out where I was a sponsor/ guest. The decor and meal were fantastic, not to mention the amazing prize give aways. Congratulations to all you ladies who won especially the grand prize winner of the awesome cruise courtesy of The Travel Store. What a night! Here are some highlights! Well our trip to NYC was fantastic! Will post a few images soon! Thought I would share a few images from my latest family beach session. This season has been particularly nice as I got to reconnect with several of my wedding couples from weddings as far back as 10 years ago! So fun to see them with their little families now. These two haven't changed a bit since their wedding day and their little girl was just so much fun!
